After almost two decades of caregiving, both in a professional environment and for a 97-year-old family member, Richard was dissatisfied with service from local caregiving agencies. He became convinced of the need for a service which provides very personal assistance to the elderly and founded Family inHome Caregiving, serving the Monterey Peninsula. After just a year and a half, he has quickly grown the company’s reputation as having the cream of the crop in caregivers, specializing in helping Clients with Alzheimer’s disease and seniors with mobility issues. His company had the fundraising team which raised the most money for the Monterey Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association Annual Walk to End Alzheimer's for two years in a row (renamed from Memory Walk) and is hoping to do the same this year. His attention to detail and ability to match personalities between caregivers and his senior citizen Clients has enabled Family inHome Caregiving to quickly take market share from competitors and gain a great reputation in the community. He is also the Chairperson on Senior Advisory Committee for the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and Represents District 5, appointed by Supervisor Mary Adams; also, Vise Chair on the In Home Support Services (IHSS) Senior Advisory Committee; and, he represents Monterey County on the Triple A Council of California (TACC) which meets in Sacramento each quarter. The mission of TACC is to promote communication and collaboration among local advisory councils, and key state partners, to - • Educate through the exchange of information, ideas, trends, and models of service delivery, • Advocate on issues of concern in local/state planning processes, and • Strengthen the advocacy effectiveness and leadership skills of local advisory councils.
